Nothing is certain yet jsk. I know it seems unfair, but without this scheme lots of people would have lost their jobs and 60% might be quite a bit more than unemployment benefit for some people.
Maybe, as the lockdown is lifted and some people get back to work, the government will find they can sustain the 80% for those remaining on furlough.
As with everything there is a lot of speculation out there mostly because it has cost 56 billion so far. All that has been said officially, as far as I know, is that the government intends to run down the scheme.
As with everything, it is just a case of wait and see.
