Is it OK to have 2 days rest between runs? I am working today but also I have shin splints in my left leg so need to rest it.

As long as I do 3 in a week is that OK??

Hello! I am not sure if you meant to post on the Positive Wellbeing during Self-Isolation community or the couch to 5k community healthunlocked.com/couchto5k but as a runner I would definitely say that you can have multiple days of rest, especially with an injury! Shin splints in particular do not heal well without rest, so making sure you rest and can run without pain is very important. Even if you cannot always run the amount that you'd like to every week because of injuries or work commitments, don't let this discourage you! Just by getting out and running at all you are doing so much good for yourself and for your health!

From my perspective you should do what feels best and not worry about it.

When I was an athlete, I trained every day - I only cycled about four days a week, but I did cross-training the other days.

Walking might be enough to work off any stiffness.

I used to do the Step-Rebock Power workout:

If you need to keep the weight off your shin, you could swim or cycle.

A rest day would be fine, but with shin splints you will need more rest and importantly, you need to find out what is causing it. The first thing I would look at is whether you are a forefoot runner and, if so whether you need to change your running style or running shoes. I recently was given a massage gun - a cheap device on the theory of a Theragun - and that worked well to alleviate pain after a hard indoor rowing machine session.

Thanks , it was waking a few miles along a toe path in light sketchers no insole. Correct my gait! All sorted and just completed my 3wr2 👋👋👋👋

I work with a sports therapist so he told me what to do

so ice , rest 24 hours min, very deep massage with own foot! And electronic device worked a treat ! No pain now 😆
