How to keep busy when your partner(non covid but vulnerable) is in hospital...........

Be an absolute eejit !. Plant pot and any other name we might call ourselves.

Today I sanded a section of wooden floor that had some damage ,cleaned it and applied new varnish.

Felt quite proud of that......................until

I was sorting the post and went to put my partners share by his seat. Cue me tramping my hefty size 7 shoes all over the still sticky varnish.

At last I've finished clearing up and reapplying varnish.

Anyone got a spare wet floor sign to stop me being an eejit again?

At least I've not been fretting.

Hope you are having a better day.

The "preppers" urge us to plant a vegetable garden - but if you "plant pot" it might give psychological benefits, as well as economic and nutritional?

Thankfully my actual plant pots are doing me proud and the bush peas I planted a couple of weeks ago have sprouted.

Even one of the onions has popped it head up.

First of all randomphantoms, I'm so sorry that your partner is in hospital and my commiserations as it's never been more difficult to have a loved one in hospital with no visits and the additional worry of coronavirus lurking.

I was actually cheered by your DIY disaster, as it's exactly the sort of thing that I do all the time. Enthusiam 100%, expertise about 5%. Still, it's good to have a go! 😃

Sorry to hear of your partner being ill and I’m hoping it’s not too serious. Great initiative to keep self busy. 🙊🙊 about tramping the sticky varnish, I use the expression character building for these sort of situations !!

All the best

Thank you.

My partner was admitted on Wednesday, had all toes on one foot amputated today and is being discharged tomorrow.

After conversation with him I have a mental image of a dinky foot, a mask and an umbrella that's a gun.

Don't ask. I've no idea where the umbrella part of the image came from but it's there.

My goodness randomphantoms,

I hope his operation went well and he recovers quickly. That’s quite an adaptation for him and for you to support him through it.

The mind throws up random things as a coping mechanism so, as long as it doesn’t provoke a negative emotion, it may be better to think oh well, umbrella ☂️ .

Best wishes
