Can anyone remember their childhood? Most of mine usually involved my brother (18 months older). A good one was (I must have been 3+ at the time), he came back with some friends & 'borrowed ' my dolls pram & somehow managed to pick our big bunny & put him in the pram ,then took him for a walk, he really seemed to enjoy it (rather nosey bunny)! Next stage was getting g a collar & lead & going for walks every day & was totally spoilt by everyone. Chris

Childhood memories are quite precious later in life, aren't they? For most children (hopefully) memories are happy ones, but I starkly remember one when I was really naughty, and it something that taught me a life lesson.

It was coming up to Christmas and it seemed a good idea to hunt, (when parents were out), for any signs of gifts that had been bought already.

We searched high up cupboards and found a few things, one of which was a nurse's outfit, something I'd been nagging my mother for, for months. I was ecstatic. I couldn't possibly wait for Christmas to try it on, and carefully took it from its box. Wow, it was a great fit and looked amazing. Then some friends called around and I rushed outside to join them, all but forgetting the uniform was on (and I suspect also wanting to show off a bit). Chasing after them I tripped and fell in a muddy puddle! Catastrophe, but the game was up, and you can imagine how I felt, having to go home and confess, and dreading the smack and telling-off we all got in those days for naughtiness.

What hurt me was that my mum was so gracious. Money was tight and it must have been devastating for her to have tried to please me, only for me to have behaved in such an ungrateful way. She just told me gently that she was hurt at my behaviour, but that she forgave me. Which gave me a lesson to the core of my being.

I only understood the lesson in a small way then, but I fully understood when I became an adult and it's stood me in good stead for the rest of my life.

Thanks for reminding me of this, and I hope you have a great day. 🙏

Ha ha , happy memories, I remember pushing my rabbit on our swing!

I used to sit on our (huge) dog's back and ride him. I was 2 years old. I also used to tie a bit of string round my gran's tortoise's leg and drag him round the garden. What an awful child I must have been. 😳 Oh and I'd put my rather fat cat in my doll's pram where he sat glaring at me.

I did that too! But I put a dolls bonnet on my cat Timmy. I can see him now just sitting there. He didn't once appear to be desperate to get away. Gosh how long ago was that?

Frightening!

I remember being about 8 and playing in a place called the Dead End by us kids. I was our wilderness. It was a beautiful spring day and I was exploring by myself when I came on an opening in the woods. The sun was shining on a large plot of beautiful violets! You could smell them and the light from the sun danced over them. I just sat on a log and looked at them for a long time. I’ve never forgotten it.

The farthest I can remember back was when I was 2 years old living on the farm. I was playing outside and wondering how the water came out from the well pump. I remember sticking my little fingers in the faucet and staring right up into into. And looking around to make sure I wasn't going to get in trouble 😄.
