What's anyone done today

It's been strange for me today as I usually work weekends, although back in January I'd booked this weekend as annual leave when today my sister would have come over we'd go for a pub lunch then visit mum who is in a Care home with very advanced dementia amongst other ailments, and tomorrow meet up with my God daughter, but, like everyone else, these plans have been cancelled and I've been in all day. I haven't done as much today as I would have liked, just been having one of those days. The weather has gone colder so I've put the heating back on, otherwise watched the end of my new star trek dvd, and just had the TV on, maybe I'll do a bit more tomorrow

Hi Jennymary,

Life has changed so far, so fast for all of us hasn't it? So many scattered and cancelled plans for all of us.

I think sometimes that, although we need to find things to occupy us, to help us over those wobbly moments, once in a while we do need to just relax and be. Just enjoy some TV or a little snooze or an indulgent snack.

So we don't have to fill every moment of every day.

So sorry your plans for this weekend are all in ruins. Try not to dwell on that. Because hopefully, at some time in the future, you will be able to have some lovely leisure time together with your sister, again.

Take care and enjoy your evening, as best you can.

I can understand your disappointment, you made plans in Jan. and now they were dashed by the monster virus. For me if I were still working I would take it as holiday time, do some resting, read some good books, watch DVD's if you have some, go in the kitchen if you like to cook or bake, make a nice cake or whatever, cook yourself a tasty meal. I am sorry your Mother is so ill, she probably does not remember you were to visit. Do not beat yourself up over that. I am retired, but do volunteer work at the local library, I miss my days of going there, so now I am home everyday and have been for 2 weeks. I just got a new book in the mail on rock painting I will read it and see what I need to get, then set about painting rocks!!! When I was in therapy over 20 years ago, "Doc" we called him that as his initials were MD. He asked about feeling disappointed when we were let down he then taught us to have a back up plan and another in case the 1st one did not work. It really helped me a Lot. Sorry your weather has turned cold, warmer is on it's way, it is warm here I have my doors and windows open, and tonight you change your clocks, so you will get an extra hour of sun in the eve, a nice time to go for a walk. Have you ever kept a journal, it is a good way to get your feelings down and can bring relief. I wish you well, an ex Brit who lives in the US, sending Big Hugs, Love, Peace.....Sprinkle 1....

It is Spring so we have been spring cleaning, records that were cluttering our living room are now upstairs. Today our plan is to clean and tidy my art room, by the time we can go out our place will be very tidy. It takes time and we are enjoying the results.

I like painting but as I in a small flat I have to do all my artwork in my kitchen... easier to cleanup any mess there. I bought Brusho paints & book so will make a start with those & hopefully create some new masterpieces... more likely a few greetings cards... Best of luck to you all, keep well and warm. Clare

Hallo JennyMary

So sorry to read about your mum and I hope she's warm and happy in her care home. It's such a pity your plans have to be put on hold... I was supposed to be going on a coach holiday tomorrow to Cornwall for the first time, but I cancelled out of it 4 weeks ago. Maybe next year.... So I'll do daily exercises with my new dumbells & spring clean my flat, watch TV in the evenings, phone friends, write a journal. All the best, keep well. Clare

Normally I would of met up with my 2 sisters for lunch and take flowers to my mums grave for her birthday. I was very low knowing we couldn't all be together. We phoned each other for moral support and my sister who lives near cemetery took flowers for us all.My husband did a little exercise in kitchen then read and played cards. We also had a game of scrabble n caught up with tv.I rang an aunty and a friend rang us too.Trying to keep occupied and sane

I am finding it very hard to galvanize myself into any action at all. I'm thinking that by the time were to have returned from our holiday on April 2nd, perhaps I will find it in myself to get some things done. I'm not even managing to go out for a walk every day and before I know it, it's dark, and time to light the stove. I don't know whether I need a kick up the pants or a hug.

Hi Jennymary

Very strange times and we normally see the grandchildren at the weekend with their mummy and sometimes daddy comes out as well and our eldest daughter also comes out to see us, I'm missing them all like mad. I did say to my youngest daughter that we needed to change the weekends a bit as it was a routine to just sit in the house and talk but we were also on our mobiles and tablets, this was only because the weather had been wet for so long but I would welcome the sitting in the house and chatting at the moment, how things change.

It's very strange times and our normal routines have ben thrown upside down but I agree with Hidden that it doesn't hurt to relax every now and again, we all need to take some time out and enjoy maybe a crossword/watch TV etc.

Take care and stay safe.

Alicia
