Coping with uncertainty and the resolve to manage

I hope for those who live alone they are able to manage in every way possible

Nothing like facing a crisis to face our fears and to look đź‘€ inwardly and realise what matters the most

I have learnt many things already

I even cooked a curry 🍛 today the first time in years as I have always been quite dependent on my Mother’s 👩‍🍳 cooking

As they say Necessity is the Mother of Invention

I get cross my daughter is trying to shop for me and her family and selfish people not a thought for anyone else clearing the shelves. It has been hard work for her extra pressure and worry at this terrible time. I don't want her putting her self at risk of catching the virus. It is a lot calmer now I have enough to last me for few weeks. When I need my tablets I can ring the surgery and my daughter pick them up from the chemist. Not sure how it works with my B12 injection will find out when I need to book. I hope people will take the advice and how serious this is!!Keep safe everyone x

Thank you for your reply

I have observed there are two kinds of people this crisis has brought out the selfish and greedy ones and those that can show small acts of kindness

Thank you for that thought, Roukaya. I live on my own with no family support and not the greatest community (although I did get a phone call from a new neighbour offering any help, which cheered me up loads).

My young dog is the one suffering (judging by her expression) as we can't go a walk. So, we both get exercise by playing games (her games) in the garden for two hours! Two hours, I say. I'm not moaning - I'm lucky I have the facilities to be able to do that.

My next door neighbours, one of whom is almost certainly a high risker, I'd have thought, as he has a bad heart and in his 70s, has had builders in for the past three days creating a 'gathering' of at least five people in his smallish garden. There is a large hedge between our gardens but you can get paranoid about the whole thing, can't you? Can these germs negotiate a tall hedge d'you reckon?

On the local news there was a woman in her 80s announcing she didn't give a toss, she'd had her life and if she gets it she gets it. Another one, in her 70s, screaming at a store cashier about the two metre ruling (she didn't agree with it, apparently).

Some of the oldies are giving the rest of we responsible oldies a very bad rep.

A great site and much appreciated - thanks to everyone for it.

It is a good site by which we listen and support one another

I have neighbours but they have shown their selfish side.

I am someone who lives on her own and I inherited my Fathers car but I do not drive due to lack of confidence

They wanted to buy the car I think at a low price and when I explained it is a souvenir of great sentimental value they are no longer the same

Sadly if people can try to take advantage they will try and this is why they have not enquired about me

Always a letdown when folk behave in such a selfish way, isn't it? I tend to give people the benefit of the doubt and assume they are/will be polite, decent, helpful and so on.

So disappointing when they turn out to be the opposite.

I wish you well, Roukaya, and keep posting on here.

They were very nice at the beginning

But we are dealing with a far greater issue so I try not to let this up set me

Am I bothered by Catherine Tate

Hope you doing as well as you can, I love the sound of a curry, love to see a picture of it next time, whoever is volunteering for it. All I did today was to make wild rice and have it with tuna xx what is killing me is not Corona but exhaustion despite doing little.

I not a technical person, a bit of a technophone or plain thick at the latest technology

It was my Mother who made me buy a better phone

If I could take a picture I would

I would love to share to all those interested

It is the anxiety which is making you tired

Take care

I understand; I'm a technophobe as well, (or just challenged by technology moving too fast for me!)

I used to be quite near the cutting edge, but since retiring I have failed to keep up. I distrust Smart technology, it gives others far too much access to your information and the inside of your home, in my opinion.

Cheers, Midori

It also makes you realise how most matters are petty when you put them into context as well!
