Last night my cat scratched the back of my leg - not serious - just a small surface scratch, obviously I washed the wound and put on antiseptic - however, all night and this morning it is dripping fluid (water?). I am seeing the Rheumy tomorrow - should I do anything about the fluid? Must say I feel tempted to put a pin in swollen feet to let that fluid out!!!

I have very swollen legs and feet as a side effect from steriods.
if i were you i would call my GP for advice x
Hi Margaret,
Yes, I agree with Steph, call for advice and keep the wound covered if possible. It's good that you are seeing your rheumy. Are you on a diuretic for the fluid?
Pats.
No I am not on diuretics for the fluid - was on water tablets a few years ago but they caused cataracts!
Did call the GP but as the fluid has stopped leaking he said to leave it and it should be alright. Will mention it to the Rheumy tomorrow. Thanks for your advice.
Good luck,
Let us know, if you feel able, as many folks have problems with fluid retension, what your rheumy advises. I used to see this problem with clients I nursed and they were never allowed to sit down without having their legs elevated.

Hi Margaret, I hope it is not water leaking out, I have the impression of a leak in a paddling pool, I certainly would not risk it with a cat scratch of all things, I am so so allergic to the claws of cats that I came up in big welts whenever my cats caught me with their claws (usually at flea treatment time!), and because of our suppressed immune systems with this awful condition, you just can't afford to take any risks....good luck and don't pop your feet, I don't think it works like that and you would increase the risk of damaging yourself, so hope you were joking
Yes it was water leaking out just like a paddling pool! Healed up now and no side effects. Yes I was joking about popping my feet - thought it might work like a fountain and all these months of suffering would just pour out of me. I find that if I joke about the side effects I can cope with them better. I wish I could draw - thought it would make a good cartoon! Bit anxious as I am seeing the Rheumy for the firtst time today. Will keep everyone posted.

I would like to do the same, I do not know about my MOONFACE thoughI I have never seen anything like it. Talk to the doc about it. I am seeing mine today. You are doing the right thing after my meaning, Hummer is half of your well being, and there is always something funny . Think of something you in your condition can be thankful for and and notice there is something funny you in the situation. excuse my English, I will keep on if you get my drift. Now I am thankful for being able to make my own coffee and not having to scream at hubby to get coffee in an hour.
All the best

Get this Kolla,
Fat face - no photos please. They will just be torn up! No hair loss, great! Except, hair growth down from my hair line on my face, sideburns in bright ginger and hair growth down my neck and on to my shoulders forming a cape. And to add to the insults - a lovely black mustache and a blonde beard. What could I do but laugh!!!! I bought a lady shaver and and also used a wet shaver and got rid of the lot as soon as they made me look like a femail Yeti. These side effects occured between 30 nd 20 mg. Below these doses they disappeared. Now, I have gone back up on doses from 8mg to 10mg because I had a virus which set me back. I still get the occassional stray hair , but it can be removed with tweezers.
Remember, most of the side effects will go once we get below ----- for me ----- 10mg.
