I’m wondering-does rain on the way have any effect on pain level in PMR? It seems the last few times rain is coming soon, my pain is worse. I had very little activity yesterday, and rested most of the day. I woke up around 6 this morning with pain all over my body. Rain is supposed to start around 8 tonight.

Weather change effects

Oh yes - I know 2 to 3 days before that it is to change!
The women. In my family always say they feel ‘things in their bones’ along with weather. Weirdo family I have though.
Mast cells can be triggered by weather changes, releasing a multitude of chemicals, some inflammatory. Some level of mast cell dysregulation is common with illness, especially autoimmune, as the mast cells are the first responders of the immune system. There are lots of possible triggers, varies from person to person. I don't have PMR but am having a major mast cell/histamine issue right now after a combination of a virus and two days of very windy weather. Rain affects me and pressure dropping, and fast temperature changes (and noise, light, stress, chemical and fragrance exposure, medications and fillers, gluten......). More magnesium, ginger, vit C, parsley, quercetin (apples, watercress, capers), vit D all may help. And check your B12, as you need to methylate to get those mast cell chemicals down and any damage to myelin on nerves can make mast cells more likely to trigger inappropriately. Best wishes

It never seemed to affect my PMR much but the cold and damp certainly makes my OA more grumpy,
..and then maybe the guardian of the OA...😂🤣.. perhaps we should ask your good lady...
Haha like it!! Actually, even though I say it myself, I've had it for so long now it's just one of things that happens, and it has very little effect on me in terms of grumpyness (is that a word??). Pop another couple of pills, or an extra glass of wine/rum and get on with it.
I'm afraid that also may be at least partly down to mast cells med.stanford.edu/news/all-n...
Feel it in my knees, wrists, ankles when weather is cold, rainy .Great when it is warm.I put it down to OA.Never heard of “ masts” .Wonder if sailors get it too?😄😜💐
note I do not have PMR but Stills disease an AI condition that for me manifests as rheumatoid disease. The days before and during rain always induce swelling and pain in my joints especially knees, hands and hips.
