Weather or not

Big change in weather over night, yesterday was unusually warm, rain, even thunder, which is strange for this time of year in the U.P. Of Michigan,,,we should have a good amount of snow on the ground, we have none...last night the temps dropped, the wind kickers up and with that change in weather and barometric pressure I feel really stiff, sore and crappy today..I am beginning to notice this happens a lot when the weather changes...gotta be something to it...that and being stressed out a bit about a family matter....waiting for the pred to kick in!! Sometimes I wonder if I'll ever be able to drop down from 15mg...not going to try it until after the holidays that's for sure...the morning stiffness and pain seems to have settled mainly in wrists and hands...enough whining on with the day!!

The weather makes big difference to the way my muscles and joints feel. Partially PMR and partially OA. My hands suffering at moment. Damp mild into cold confused my body enormously....😲👐

Yes I agree, for the first time I really dread a cold day. Most of my family in the tropics hmmm!

Hi sj

The tropics would really floor me lol. I find that I get the chills then get too hot at the moment. I had very short walk at redmires yesterday and shivered the whole way. In the past I wouldn't have bothered with a coat at 7 degrees. Brrr.

Yep, weather changes stir up all sorts of niggles...mostly hands..., index finger joints and thumbs! Oh yah, knees and shoulders too.

Sorry about the stress going on for you now...add that to holiday action and you get the ingredients for potential flare. Probably good to hang at 15 mg pred thru the new year, maybe inflammation is being fueled by the stress, etc. In my experience, no benefit in rushing a taper during a rough time.

Again, I’m no medical expert, just a fellow traveler on this PMR journey.

Kind regards, Jerri

".gotta be something to it"

There is - I was in Malta at the beginning of last week, 20C, shorts and t-shirt on Monday, back home and it snowed on Wednesday and since then has been -15C overnight (4F I think). Today is less cold but still a bit parky!

And I have a flare. Went to the GP this morning because my low back pain was really bad. She "quaddled" and now I can move.

I'd head for hibernation if I were you...

Hi

Sorry to hear about flare..what a bummer! My back’s a bit ropey at the moment ..recovering from too much sitting over 36hr period last week! So resorting to ice packs, still...mustn’t grumble😉

Grumble on! You are our guardian angel.. backs hurt !! My massage person last week said, have you been sitting/lying a lot on the couch with your computer and this disease ? (she nailed it) Your back is so tight. !! She suggested I at least pull my knees up and roll a bit from side to side and alternate the ice with heat. Good luck!

Thks,

Yes have been icing it since I got here, and exercising, but unfortunately it’s a combination of arthritis, muscles and worst of all - age (not a lot I can do about the latter except ignore it!) Well everyone knows I’m just a youngster at heart and mind anyway!

Oh yah, no going any lower till January for sure...not horrible stress but still it's enough to add to everything else...gotta learn to calm down, breathe deep, get in the holiday spirit...thank god for Amazon so not so many hours following the wife around in crowded stores!! Never bothered me much before but now on the pred, being jostled in a rude crowd is not healthy for the other people!!

My Dear One said I need to leave the shillelagh home, because he's afraid I'll start beating people with it.

I have the same pattern...whenever the barometer is changing - whether up or down - I feel it.

It does look like you might be getting some snow on the UP in the next week or so. Be careful what you wish for!

Ha! sorry! That is our weather from Minnesota... the arctic blast should hit you today. I had the exact same symptoms with the change. Said to my husband...the prednisone is no working on my hands tonight. Did not feel it was the PMR just the old arthritis that had been disguised a bit but this huge barometric change revealed it again! I'm at 20. Started at 30. Wish the US would start at 15 like the UK. Good luck!!
