A&E trip…

I had a short nasty headache on Thursday, thought nothing of it, until again the next day I was fine playing with my daughter and grandson , and it suddenly came on out of nowhere right in my left eye… it got so bad my daughter took me home and I took some paracetamol and went to bed. I couldn’t sleep but I just stayed under the blankets until it eased. My daughters insisted on ringing 111 for advice ( they were worried about GCA). I was advised to go to A&E …. When I eventually saw a very nice Dr, he checked my BP, eyes ears mouth heart. He took bloods which were normal (including the missing PMR my surgery forgot to do!) He didn’t have an answer but did suggest I had an eye exam for glaucoma just in case. Although he didn’t scan my temporal artery, and I had a clear one 6 weeks ago would it be anything to with it? Would tapering cause sharp headaches? We got there at 6.30pm and home just before 2am!

Wouldn’t imagine tapering would have this affect … but you do have lot going on so please do seek further advice, maybe starting with checking for glaucoma…

A GP friend ‘tested’ me for glaucoma at a party once. He flapped his hand at the side of my head and said can you see my hand? I am not sure if that is a valid test or not. I suppose it does check for peripheral vision!!

Thinking back it does sound a bit odd. We were probably drunk on the other hand.

You don’t say what level of pred you are on. I did look at your bio but couldn’t see from there either. I must admit I get sharp headaches when I’m reducing but best to get it checked out. 💐

I also get sharp headaches when I am reducing. My head also sometimes feels like I have a helmet on which goes under my jaw. The sensation only lasts a few days but is nevertheless unpleasant.
