I am now 71. Diagnosed with GCA by biopsy Nov 22. I am currently down to 4 mg Prednisolone after starting at 40mg. Have had to keep increasing the Prednisolone after having had a few flares. Had a perforated appendix with peritonitis May 24 had emergency operation which left me with an incisional hernia, had hernia repair 4 weeks ago when I was told to increase Pred to 5mg, hopefully no more operations or flares. Rheumatologist goes by CRP unfortunately my GP surgery nurses and doctor are unable to get my blood due to poor veins. I also have osteopenia.

I take Alendronic Acid weekly. I know this should be on the same day but would it be ok to take this one day early. Thank you to everyone on this group, I read all your posts every day. Best wishes to all.

I sometimes take it a day or two AFTER I'm supposed to, due to eating/drinking something on the day before remembering I should have taken it (despite leaving a note out) or being away and it not being convenient to take it. I can't see that it matters to take it a day early or late occasionally as long as you're consistent most of the time.

I have taken mine on a couple of occasions a day late and haven’t had any adverse effects. Obviously it should be not too often but I can’t see why it should be a problem once in a while.

The instructions for taking weekly alendronate say

"If you miss a dose of once-weekly alendronate, take the dose the morning after you remember. Then return to taking one dose once each week on your regularly scheduled day. Never take a double dose to make up for a missed one, and never take more than one dose in one day."

So if you missed it one week and took it a day late there would only be 6 days before the next dose - which suggests it is OK.
