Had the follow up with my Rhummie today....

And I am still in the dark as to what is actually going on...The recent doppler ultrasound was negative for GCA, while she is not ruling out GCA she is sceptical. Unfortunately her office messed up with the biopsy request and scheduled it for the end of March which won`t do, hopefully we can get a rush on that biopsy.

She did raise another possibility the last CT scan showed a 50% stenosis of the carotid artery she wondered outloud if perhaps some plaque was dislodged and caused the vision issues, I guess that is possible but seems like a stretch.

Still have the weakness in the legs asked her about that and she says they are trying to figure that one out!

To be honest I am more worried about atherosclerosis than GCA given my history with heart disease and already having stents.

Sounds like that may be the case...I will get the biopsy done and see what that shows and if that is negative we`ll go down that road...I have had so many test on my heart in the last couple of years I am surprised this wasn`t picked up or addressed.

I think I will call my family doctor after the CT scan and get after this right away!

she also wants me to drop the pred from 60 to 50 now for 2 weeks and then down to 40...

That’s the usual taper- doesn’t always work, but give it go and see how you are at 40mg, when I guess you’ll discuss again.
