I think really only your doctor can decide - have they investigated for a return of the Lyme's disease? Either way - stress can be associated with both Lyme and PMR

However - it is unusual for PMR to only be in the hip region, though possible. Can you tell us a bit more about your symptoms?

Thank you. Early morning stiffness, stairs difficult, relief from hot/ cold shower/ exercises. But worsens during day. Very high ESR level denoteing infection, but where?.20mg daily Prednisolone not having effect!

It isn't necessarily infection - ESR rises with inflammation too which is the case in PMR.

It is usually said that PMR is worst in the morning and improves through the day. How long have you been on 20mg pred? Despite what some doctors think, the response to pred is not always immediate - some people need a week or more. And sometimes you need more than 20mg to get that result.

Thank you, helpful. Must not be so impatient.

True - but it nothing improves at all, your GP needs to look more closely. If it is just your hips that are affected, x-rays for a start to rule other things out. And if you aren't responding - he may need to refer you to rheumatology though the waiting lists can be quite long in some areas.

I have no experience if Lyme’s disease but presumably your PMR has been diagnosed after high inflammatory markers and responding to predisolone? I was on a very high dose of pred to start with - 3 yrs ago, and with the stresses that come with life events have been up and down a lot with dosage. Am trying hard to reduce but it is difficult. I always take it after food so have not used stomach protector meds for a bit. I am currently on 5 and a half to 6 mg. The inflammation could still be linked to Lyme’s perhaps if your arm itches. How can they tell when it has gone. Hope you feel better soon. It is infuriating after being very active all your life as I assume ‘tennis player’ refers.
