I may have Lyme but I ain't no Lemon!

Hello all

Follow up to my original post from six months ago! I was diagnosed with PMR back in March of this year. Despite pred my symptoms were still apparent and was referred to a rheumatologist in September. He thought it wasn't PMR but really didn't know what it was!

However a blood test was positive for Lyme disease i.e the antibodies are present. I am now on a second course of antibiotics and my Dr. is treating me for Lyme and believes it is Lyme. The same Dr. that thought I had PMR. Rheumatologist still not convinced. I had an appt. with Rheumatologist through the week but now put back to the end of November. I feel I'm left in limbo a year after my symptoms first appeared.

Anyone have a similar experience on the forum? Comments welcome.

It's possible to have Lyme's and PMR simultaneously. Take your antibiotics for Lyme's and continue treating as though PMR is present. It will take some time to sort things out completely.

Thanks for that. I've stopped taking prednisolone as per the Rheumatologist's instruction! I tapered off the drug.

And what happened when you tapered off the pred?

Just came off pred last Thursday. So haven't really had long enough to come to any conclusions as yet.

How long had you been on it? If you feel really unwell, confusion, weak and so on don't hesitate to call the emergency services, an adrenal crisis is NOT something to play with or ignore.

No I feel ok so far just have the same symptoms as before. I was on pred from when I was first diagnosed with PMR in March of this year.
