Thanks to everyone who took the time and trouble to respond to my post; this forum is a godsend especially with our NHS being in its sad state at the moment

You have given me much food for thought and it is clear that there are a myriad of possible causes for this pain. I have upped my dose of steroid and seen some improvement. I have also seen GP today who has given me a request for back X-ray, taken bloods and given me Cocodamol. Guess it is a process of trying to eliminate things. Thanks again

Been on Co-Codamol for many years now, always my goto for my OA, just be aware it might well make you a little constipated.
