I think I’ll try this!

Following my previous post about what to do now my plan is to increase my pred dose from 8mg to 13mg for a week, I’ll then drop back to 9mg which is where I have been more comfortable. Whee we n I start the DSNS reduction method again I’ll leave a longer period in between each 1/2mg drop.

Does this sound like a realistic plan or have I missed something?

I’m not expert but that is what I’ve done albeit at a different dose. I’d tapered to 9.5 from 20mg which I started in July 2023. Christmas for some reason seems to cause stress and 9.5 just didn’t seem enough as I had low level pain which didn’t react to paracetamol, lower body stiffness, fatigue and low mood. I waited two weeks to see if adrenals or whatever would kick in but they’ve obviously gone on holiday so I made the decision to feel human and took another 5mg today. The change in every way has been remarkable and I’ve made the decision now to stop the relentless drive to get to nil and take whatever I need to keep me happy and pain free. The taper will now be super slow as per the taper plans on this site and my only fear is I may have more battles with my GP who may not want to keep me on preds beyond the magical two years. Merry Christmas and a painless, happy New Year

Adrenal function rarely starts to return until you are well below 10mg, 5mg is much more common, And they don't "kick" in, they wake up slowly and tend to stutter a bit. It can be a very long and slow process.

That is what we suggest in the event of a flare do to overshooting the dose you need. You can stay at the higher dose for up to 2 weeks and drop straight back to the lower dose.
