I have Norovirus. I tried taking my pred with a little apple sauce this morning but 30 mins later I was sick again. Am I right in thinking this wouldn't have had time to get into my system and I need to try again later this morning? I am on 6mg of pred.
If I need to try again and as the apple sauce didn't work, is it okay to try with just plain water or should I wait until I can take a bit of food?
Hoping everyone on this forum manages to stay clear of this bug.

I would take another dose - it might have been absorbed but you can't be sure and under the circumstances you would be better with more rather than less. And water for a day or two will be fine.
Get well soon - there seems to be a lot of it about and rather worse than usual.

I have just managed to get a response from my GP practice after a no go with 111 or my local pharmacist. The advice, like you said, is to take the dose again . And, as I'm not yet holding anything down, to dissolve it in 100ml of water (takes a few minutes). Then to sip the water over 5 minutes. As a once off it's okay not to take it with or after food as the dispersed (dispersed being the key word) tablets shouldn't irritate my stomach. Not looking forward to the taste.
As likely as anything to make you throw it up!!! Hope it works OK.
So far so good. Otherwise it's a trip to A&E for an injection. I'm sure I'm the last person they would want through their doors breathing germs everywhere.
Thank you for your help. With 4 small grandchildren it was inevitable it would happen sooner or later.
