It may be the pred - and it is the primary reason that patients on pred are often given a PPI such as omeprazole. You asked about it in your last post - now you know why! It is also advisable to take your pred dose with food.
Hi yes I get more acid reflux and indigestion. I won’t take anymore Omeprazole took it for 1 year gave me more stomach problems. I now drink Fennel seed tea and eat fennel seeds. Helps a lot.
I’d read plenty about it, but the risk of a stomach ulcer concerned me more. I always liked natural yogurt but I now take so much I make my own.
I also make a grain free muesli that’s nuts, seeds & coconut slices.
I take a bowl of that in the morning & another bowl of yogurt & fruit after dinner in the evening.
So far indigestion hasn’t been a problem
HiHarry, very rarely get it,if I do a cream cracker always works for me,sometimes takes two but NOTHING on it ok?xx😜🎄🤶🎄🤶
The simple answer is definitely YES and thats why the GP also prescribes a PPI. They also have available a more expensive Prednisolone Gastro-resistant tablet which could be offered.
Hello HarryLike many on this forum , I take my pred with natural yoghurt in my breakfastof nuts and seeds (even when I was on 50mg)....I find I have no indigestion . I also take a bisphosphonats for established Osteoporosis . I wait 30 to 40 minutes after that before my yoghurt though. Hope you find something
Is your indigestion reflux leading to heartburn? Usually more noticeable if you bend forwards scrunching up your tummy, or if laying flat in bed. You could try Gaviscon liquid. It is formulated to create a frothy raft which floats on top of your stomach contents in addition to neutralising some of the stomach acid. I find it helps on the rare occasion I get a twinge. In my experience these types of problems do become more noticeable as we get older. It might also help to watch how much you eat in a meal. A very full stomach will exacerbate the problem if the ring of muscle between the stomach and the oesophagus is weakening.
Why not ask your GP for enteric coated that is Gastro resistant prednisolone. It has made all the difference to me as regards indigestion. It comes in 1mg 2 1/2 mg and 5mg.
The only thing you have to be aware of is that because of coating it takes longer to take effect.
You may have to be persistent with your GP.
Entero-coated prednisolone. Available in all sizes.
But not all practices - some have it on a black list because the 1mg tablets are so expensive, The 5s and 2.5s aren't so bad when you take the cost of the PPI into consideration too.
