Hi everyone, has anyone experienced severe breast edema as a result of long term prednisone? If so, do you have any advice as to how to relieve it. I have added inches to my breasts over a period of months. I have just increased my diuretics so maybe that will help but wonder if anyone else is dealing with this. All advice appreciated.

Prednisone related breast edema

Are you sure it is oedema rather than fatty tissue or was it diagnosed as such?
i am not sure it is oedema. The physician didn’t seem too sure either and has ordered a diagnostic mammogram so we will see if that shows anything. I just wondered if it was oedema as the increase has been since the prednisone journey and has been ongoing and I have had oedema in my legs. But I will try cutting carbs. I rarely use salt. Thanks for replying.
Does the doctor know you’ve increased your diuretics? Pred depletes your potassium so depending on which diuretic you take, you might be making that situation worse with an increase.
Pred does make your fat go to your middle so perhaps it may have affected up top as well. Pred does affect hormones too. There have been a few here who have complained of breast pain on Pred. Has the enlargement occurred with a gain in weight or independent of it?

I certainly had a majestic bust for some time and it has gone back to more like it used to be - I never was un-endowed so to speak! But I'm not sure it was ever oedema. If you are sure it it oedema - have you cut your processed food intake and any added salt?
Thanks for the reply and glad to hear that it went back to more normal eventually. I am not sure it is oedema just hoping for an answer as it is rather alarming! I will try cutting carbs more seriously. I rarely add salt to my diet. The doctor has ordered a diagnostic mammogram so we will see what if anything that shows. Thanks so much for the reply. You are so faithful about replying to all our varied questions and it is so helpful.
I’m having the same issue's, sore tender breasts that seems to have increased in size. I was down to 3mg of pred but had to increase to 5mg again. Just hoping it will improve soon.
