Pure aloe juice?

I have read Kate Gilbert's PMR survival guide (2 edition) - easy to read and really useful. In it she talks about aloe vera juice. Has anyone on here tried it? I’m trying everything that’s been suggested may help, so have ordered two options, the one mentioned in the book and a cheaper version on Amazon which doesn’t look any different contents wise. Any comments/ advice will be welcome.

I did try it, can’t say it did a lot for me to be honest..

As I’ve said before in reply to same question - “ I did try it, but cannot say hand on heart it did anything for my reductions...but like her I was quite some way into my journey [her PMR, me GCA] - and probably was nearing remission anyway.”

Now you have posted, you will see related posts..

As you are only just starting, I wouldn’t be putting too much faith in anything other than the Pred for now.

Thanks for that. Yes, I’ve just worked my way through a post from 2 years ago that came up. All good info. I’m not putting my faith in anything or anyone (including my GP) - I’m just willing to try anything in case it helps - and I want to arm myself with anything I can find so that I can make my own informed decisions. This forum is great btw 👍

Understandable to try different approaches, and definitely keep asking .. that’s what we are all about.. 😊

If you don’t try these things, you’ll never know if they are any good..

I can not comment if it helps for PMR as have not tried it for that. However when I tried it many years ago for another health reason, I found the daily quantity suggested was very high. This upset my stomach and would have cost a lot to maintain, reducing the dose helped.

Honestly I have no idea where she got so keen on it! It tastes disgusting and costs a fortune! And she is about the only person I have heard praise it.

🤣 A tad harsh methinks 😉. I thought the piece in the book quite balanced albeit misleading on statistics - you only get 16 days worth per litre at the minimum recommended dose - which makes it incredibly expensive. I thought she gave a good overview and then more or less said ‘make up your own mind’. I don’t trust these bought preparations so my next project is to research how to extract the gel at home. Hurrah for Google and YouTube!

Btw both the juices I sent for have now arrived. I’m taking them in 15ml doses. The Natural Health one is almost tasteless - the Forever Living less pleasant but bearable if you down it in one.

I tried it in the Canary Islands - it was disgusting!!!! I have to admit to being very sceptical about such things, Kate knows what I think!!!

PMRpro, I'm with you on the taste of the stuff. I bought a bottle from Holland & Barratt some years ago, and somehow managed to force myself to down less than 1/4 of the bottle before I threw it away.

I decided to grow aloe vera in the kitchen. Not impressed with drinking it, but great if you burn yourself for soothing the burn.

True that. We keep a small tin of Vaseline with Aloe Vera in the kitchen especially for that purpose.
