Had my 12 week Xray and consultant appointment on Thursday. So far only 50% healed. 😢 Brace can come off for short periods but arm feels weak and vulnerable and where the break is, is a bulge the size of an apple. At last I'm being referred for physio. Arm gets stronger each day and I can raise a cup of tea and eat with a fork, Have to change my car for an automatic eventually. Still no driving is a huge blow. Next hospital appointment is after Christmas. I wish I'd had the op in the beginning as by now would be fine. Dropping down slowly to 1.5mg atm from 2mg. Wonderful OH and I will be hosting family Christmas as usual so arm will be stronger by then. Onward and upward! Don't get knocked flying by large dog!

Update on mid humerus break
Sorry to hear you are still struggling with this… and to be honest I wouldn’t be considering tapering at the moment, especially if you are going to be “hosting ” Christmas.
One thing at a time is enough to cope with, 2 is likely to be tricky, 3 is definitely a no-no…just my humble opinion.. 😏
Thank you. I had been on 1.5mg for 2 weeks when the accident occurred in August but thought it wise to return to 2mg then. Guess you're right. Will stick at that till the New Year. Luckily my long term steroid use hasn't given me side effects like cateracts, diabetes etc....🤞
Just my view - and even though it doesn’t sound much, 0.5mg can sometimes make a significant difference…
Enjoy Christmas- and delegate as you need 😊…
Sorry to hear it is taking so long to heal - make sure YOU get waited on at Christmas. Let the family take the strain.
I sure hope you don't overdo it with the holiday. I wondered if you saw your x-ray? Would physio have it on their computer? Does that lump feel like dense sponge? Please take care, be interesting to see what physio says.💞
Thank you. It will be stronger by Christmas hopefully 🤞Bulge doesn't feel spongy, quite hard. I saw the sidekick from South Carolina who's there till February. Nice young guy but didn't say much. I had to ask re physio. Next time I'll ask to see the top guy. With the brace off yesterday it feels much easier at least. 🤞Hope you're well.
A healing fracture forms what is called callus - first soft immediately and that later changes to hard and the bump can be quite prominent.

I wondered...as you know my humerus 'broke clean through' just below the ball. POST-surgery I had this large raised and ugly area. Mine was a hematoma which long after I stopped checking it....it vanished.💞
Thanks. Consultant said to ignore it as it will go...not nice to look at, looks deformed, but luckily not summer.
