Tapering and Vaccinations

My 7 week taper from 5mg to 4.5 mg ends on Saturday. I hope then to taper to 4mg over the same period. But on the same day I am scheduled to have Covid and flu vaccinations. I have had these vaccinations before without too much trouble. But should I delay my taper reduction on this occasion for a couple of weeks? Or do something else? Thanks as ever.

Sounds like you are doing well.

I don’t know what others might think, but, if I were in your shoes, I would postpone the next taper for at least a couple of weeks after the vaccinations, just to ensure you are feeling ok when you start the taper.

I’ve had all the covid vaccinations from day one, without any issues, but, even so, I would still wait the two weeks.

Thank you. As you say caution is the watchword. I'd pretty much decided but decision made now. What's a couple of weeks in 5/6 years if the current taper plan plays out.

Absolutely!

I would wait - make sure any reaction is due to the jabs themselves rather than another change in dose. Or vice versa!

And absolutely - 2 or 3 weeks is nothing in the great scheme of things!!!

Good advice and a point I had not thought of - thank you.

Agree with others- especially with having 2 vaccines on same day.

Two occurrences is enough for body to cope with -three might be a step too far!

Yet another nuance I had not thought through - thank you.

You might be absolutely fine... but since my GCA [albeit well into remission] I'm always mindful it isn't as straightforward as we used to think...especially when immune system is involved.

Fingers crossed for you..

Thank you. I have always been ok with Covid and flu vaccinations and I did not really think about having them before. But I definitely do not want to muck up the slow taper. I feel I have a lot invested in it.
