Tapering advice please

I completed a 5 week taper from 4.5mg to 4.25mg on the 12th September and feel absolutely fine. I am going to Tenerife on the 8th October till the 22nd. My plan was to stay on the 4.25mg until I return. However, I now have an appointment for Covid and Flu Vaccinations on the 15th November.

Should I stay on the 4.25mg until after all this?

Hi,

If it was me, I’d stay at your 4.25mg until after your two vaccinations. After all, what is another three weeks in the grand scheme of things?

Also, during my seven plus years on pred, I always took an extra one or two mg of pred on the day of flying - both going and coming back, as airports and flying can always be a bit stressful. It was just for one day only, and I never had any problems with my pmr. Not saying you have to do this; for me, it was just an extra bit of insurance, and don’t forget to take plenty of pred with you!

Good luck, and I hope you have a good break.

Hi CharlieI love prednisone. Doctors are always slamming the drug. I

Feel so guilty wanting to use it but it is the only thing that

Helps my debilitating back pain. I'm on 10mg now and feel great. Hoping I can get to 5 and stay there.

That is 3 different potential changes - keep anything you can the same!!! And I would never taper my pred just before, just after or during a holiday!!!! Never!! It is stress, it is tiring, it is exciting.

Enjoy Tenerife.

I would just stay as you are. It is not that much extra time as things go.
