This is usual protocol for a flare, should you have one - but there’s no reason to assume you will, unless you go at it full throttle. Just remember you are out if your normal routine, so make sure to build in rest periods, and take enough Pred with you should you need an increase.

Most of all enjoy.

As far as I see it, you have 3 negative possibilities.

1. You over do it physically and you get muscle pains as a result. This comes on within a day or so of the assault and Pred doesn’t help.

2. You over do it and your body can’t produce the cortisol you need to cope so you feel weak, exhausted, anxious, nauseated, the usual for low cortisol. You deal with this by resting hard and possibly taking an extra mg while you rest. The worse you feel, the more you rest and beware of getting a cortisol crash out of the blue. I had to lie down for 3 days after a long haul flight and onward journey because my adrenal axis decided it couldn’t cope.

3. You have an increase in autoimmune activity and need extra Pred. I don’t have PMR but assume that you don’t get it from over doing it overnight and it might become apparent later and an increase might be needed. Taking Pred just in case is problematic because you don’t know how much is enough. You might over do your ability to deal with both your general constitution and current inflammation and in that case you need to rest and be on the lookout for sustained increase in your symptoms.

You might be totally fine if you are sensible and perhaps you’ll be fine even if you’re not.

Relax and enjoy yourself and don’t overdo it, things will be fine and you should have a lovely time.

Things go horribly wrong just being alive. Also on the other hand they do sometimes go wonderfully right!

Do you think it’s pointless having positive thoughts ?

Not at all, but stating a fact. We almost all here are very positive people. But it hasn't stopped our PMR.
