’the impact of [Ozempic] reducing inflammation in the body appears to explain why they can protect against such a wide range of diseases.

The experts likened inflammation in the body to a “thermostat” which the injections are able to turn down. The development of many common and deadly conditions, including diabetes, cancer, Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease has been linked to inflammation of the immune system.’

We can only hope!

As Koalajane says, Ozempic supplies worldwide are already under stress [being used for weight loss] so this news is likely to make the situation even worse.

Not sure I’d want to take it when you read of the possible side effects!

Like many meds unfortunately, I’ve been told diverticulitis has likely been caused by taking codeine based meds for Stills. The PPI prescribed last year for an unnamed attack of something gave me debilitating headaches and the anti vertigo med given for low BP has listed within the contraindications section that it may cause dizziness. Luckily I’m not dependent on any of these meds but I read often on the NRAS pages about terrible side effects endured in order to have relief and better QOL, it’s a fine line we all have to walk I feel.

So does losing weight.

I am not sure that by losing weight you can reduce inflammation necessarily.

100% you can. Being overweight or obese causes loads of inflammation.

What I am trying to say that there are a great many other reasons that you get inflammation and you should not put it down to one thing.

yes it sounds good but you can not get it if your not overweight or a diabetic. I tried on line and was refused. My autoimmune system is shot. I’m willing to pay £139 mont if it helped me but they are only targeting obesity and diabetes.

It does seem almost too good to be true. These are just the first of many similar drugs to come. Oral versions will eventually be available and it looks like they'll be a 'game-changer' for many conditions. A lot of attention is now being paid to inflammation and its negative effects, which is promising for us. I'm certainly quite keen to try a GLP-1 agonist, when they're cheaper and more widely available.
