I was on 2.5 mg of prednisone for 2 years. I have now tapered successfully to zero. Is it normal to drop weight when off,?

Yes, if you gained weight when on pred, it is likely you will lose weight at low doses and when off altogether. It is also a symptom of adrenal insufficiency.

I gained so much weight on prednisone. Once I got to lower doses my weight started dropping. I’ve lost 69 pounds so far over the last four years. I also eat much healthier. (I’m heading for “club zero.” Down to 1mg.)

I am still on Prednisolone and dropped weight rapidly in the first year so I would say that not everyone gains weight on steroids and that some actually lose it! I have had lots of tests - gastroscopy, faecal, scan etc - all negative - so it would seem to be just how I am. Was very worrying at the time though! xx

if you feel at all worried about continuing weight loss please get it checked out....not everything can always be blamed on pred.
