DSNS - almost down from 6mg

I have been using DSNS method from 6mg to 5 and 1/2 mg and have three days to go to be permanently on 5 and 1/2 mg with no problems this time! My question is should I stay at 5 and 1/2mg for a while or carry on down to 5mg? I am also on Lansoprazole, 4000iu vitamin D plus K2. Thanks for ant encouragement in advance as I have been down this road many times before over the last 3 years.

Give it an extra week or two at least, just to make sure….and good luck.

If you’ve stuttered at this level before, surely an extra few weeks and success is better than rushing and failing!

I’m in a similar position to the OP apart from being on a slightly higher dose of 7.5 to 7mg (I have 2 days remaining at 7.5 following the award winning DSNS programme) and will pause at 7mg as recommended by you and PMRPro. The advice here could not have been better timed! “It’s not a race” are wise words!

I'd leave it a couple of weeks before proceeding with the next 1/2mg. It isn't a race.

I always left at least two weeks on 100% new dose before even thinking about it. Sometimes I went longer depending on what life was up to or my own physical state.

What is the DSNS method please?

It's a Dead Slow Nearly Stop tapering plan. Look at FAQ, then Tapering Plans and it's there.

I got a phone call from my rheumie nurse to tell me that the consultant advises me to stay on 5 mg for 2 months!

Rod Hughes likes to keep people at 5mg for up to 9 months - lets the body catch up and makes the rest easier he finds. A shorter rest can be negotiated!
