I have acid reflux which causes me to struggle if I have longish conversations. My voice becomes croaky and it hurts to try and speak more loudly. I stopped being able to sing a long time ago due to this. My symptoms became worse when I was prescribed alendronic acid. Not sure if this is similar to what you’re experiencing?

Yes, I have. My voice is week and gets tired after speeking to much (I do tend to talk a lot). I cannot sing to my grandchildren in the evening. When PMR is under good controle on higher pred then it is better.

Interestingly my throat had been worse the last few days and I recently reduced pred by 0.5 mg. I hadn’t made the connection

If you already had/have acid reflux, that is a direct contraindication for AA and you should have been offered one of the non-oral alternatives such as annual zolendronic acid infusions.

Thanks. I’ll speak to GP. I now have a slight difficulty when swallowing so it has become worse.

An even greater contraindication for non-oral bisphosphonates.

However - dysphagia (difficulty swallowing) needs to be investigated, Is your diagnosis PMR? Dysphagia isn't usually a part of PMR but it can be a symptom of other muscle disorders.

Yes it’s PMR. I’ll contact GP. The swallowing issue started after AA prescribed. I’ve had acid reflux for years
