I had a cystoscopy a few years ago and the haematuria turned out to be due to my calcium tablets! (My urine was also 'chalky', which cleared up as soon as I stopped the tablets - now I rely on dietary calcium.)
Thank you , you really have made me feel more positive. It’s been a long morning, procedure not until 1.45pm not sure if I will be told anything today. But I will let you know x
The waiting is the worst thing. You'll be numbed, so shouldn't feel the scope too much - not as painful as a smear, I recall!
The urologist talked me through my procedure, which I could follow on a screen (!) so I was told he didn't see anything of concern. I expect it depends on the doctor and the 'rules' of each hospital. There will be nurses to 'hold your hand' - everyone is always so kind, I find. 🌻
Thank you again very reassuring. I had a telephone conversation with a nurse and she said “it’s just like having a smear test” .
My last smear test was 30 years ago!!!!!
My big problem is that I have a haematoma on my leg which is refusing to heal and it is a horrible mess. It’s 5 weeks now and it’s being dressed every other day at the surgery. I am bandaged from my ankle almost to my knee and it is very sore. I checked with the hospital and they are happy to go ahead with the procedure today.
It will be fine. It was interesting watching it on the screen. As mine was OK it was followed up by a CAT scan which showed up a polyp which necessitated an MRI which confirmed that the polyp was harmless. It all happened very quickly which was good.
