I have PMR & GCA, both diagnosed in 2020. Early on, I saw on here that visual distortions were a sign of the GCA ramping up, so I would increase my preds for a while to compensate when it happened. That probably happened around a dozen times over the years. Then, six months ago, someone posted here an exact description of my visual distortions, saying that this is what a visual migraine was like. I was blown out of the water! I never had any inkling!
My question is: despite the cause of my visual distortions, should I still up my dose of pred when this happens? My underlying thought is that stress can lead to a flare and a migraine is a stress indicator isn't it?

Have you ever discussed it with a doctor? It would make sense to be sure these are visual migraines - if they are I don't think there is a role for pred but there are instances where visual effects can be a sign of something serious.
