My eyesight in my left eye has significantly deteriorated over a few weeks such that my optometrist is flummoxed by his own admission. He asked if my PMR was under control to which the answer is yes, I'm at 4mg.
I've had no headaches, no jaw problems or anything I can associate with GCA. Should I be worried about GCA? The change in my eyesight has been gradual (I think) over a few weeks.
My optometrist has one more test to do tomorrow (field test) and if that sheds no light he'll refer me to a specialist.
Any thoughts much appreciated. Thank you

If it’s not a cataract or glaucoma and optometrist is flummoxed, then no, not really. Hopefully further test will give more info… and please keep us information. Obviously should things escalate then you do need immediate attention…
There’s nothing on your bio to indicate any other health issues or medication or events that could account for changes.
No other changes of meds and no other health issues so thank you for your reply. As I said to PMRpro it's a relief that it isn't a pattern you've come across as being suggestive of GCA
was surprised to see this. I too have had eyesight problems for a few weeks..particularly looking left . I have lots of astigmatisms though and in past a left orbital lymphoma so wondered about radiotherapy affecting . I have GCA. I am seeing a Consultant at the Eye hospital next week which was routinely a follow up appointment post treatment for Lymphoma I am ‘signed off’ from them as clear …on 9 mg prednisolone currently
I have had something similar but less dramatic than your eye problem perhaps. My optician has always been on look out for GCA since I developed PMR and keeps assuring me I have not got symptoms, but I did do an 'tear flow test' which showed that some of the ducts are blocked and therefore I have zones of dryness... I use a warm pad over the eyes.. when I remember, for 10 mins laying down, it helps when I do it and not when I forget and not sure it is relevant to you, but you could try the 'tear flow test' if you think dry eye is involved, it certainly hinders reading for me
is it possible that you have developed cataracts. I have just had cataract surgery because I’ve been on steroids for the past 18months and was told that has accelerated the development of cataracts.
