I had an email the other day with the link to access them on the website - did you register for the event at the time? I think it will be sent to everyone who did.

This is the link I was given:

If you want to register the next time - just send a message to one of the Admin people and they will direct the request where it needs to be.

Thanks for this link. I missed all that when I was on holiday and I wanted to listen to that webinair. I wish I could find and access a physio who has experience in PMR.

Plenty here ... I know - they are so keen to send us for physio but don't realise "just" exercises doesn't work ...

Well, that was my concern really, how much they know about PMR and the challenges it presents. I become fatigued very easily and the GP was concerned the other day about how much I sleep and that I need to sleep after exercise. That was a major factor in telling me not to try tapering. The physio at the doctor's surgery didn't seem very clued up on PMR, seemed far more interested in putting my muscular stiffness down to osteoarthritis, so I wasn't sure that he understood why I was there. I think I will ask at the gym. Nuffield run that programme to improve mobility, but when I looked through the window at one of the classes, I would find it far too painful to do what they were doing. I think I would need individual help. I wanted to get back to using the resistance machines, as that gave me the best improvement in the past, but I have been in such a bad way with stiffness and fatigue over the last 2 or 3 months that I haven't been able to manage to get to the gym. Though my holiday has perked me up a bit, so maybe I will manage it now.

Know what you mean - the effort of getting to the pool and the hell of getting dressed afterwards sometimes makes me wonder why I go at all, though overall it has helped a lot. Especially since a lot of the things this season's instructor did weren't for me - far too much shoulder and hand stuff. But she isn't back in the autumn so I will try again.

Getting hydro therapy is so difficult in the UK but that was where I started, in the hospital pool. Then sat in the changing room drip-drying using their towels, what's not to like?

I so agree. Hydrotherapy helps me so much but I would have to drive an hour to the closest one. Hotel and local gyms have nice pools but the temp is just that much too cold. I need to win the lottery and have one built in the back garden!

Just straight forward swimming helps me a lot. And strangely, I get the most benefit when the water is on the cool side, especially with the fatigue. I feel normal when I am in the pool.

There's nothing to stop me doing my own exercises in the pool. I have seen lots of other people doing it. Perhaps I could devise my own programme and combine that with the weight training.

Yes. I did aquasize for years. Loved it. I had lively instructors with good music and met for coffee afterwards. Its great and I still remember the exercises. Just walking in the pool,is beneficial. I am a bit too decrepit now and end up hardly being able to dress myself. Highly recommend if you are able.

I suppose I am lucky that my aches and pains don't stop me getting dressed, it's more having the energy to get out of the house in the first place. What a pity that you don't have someone to help you when you get out of the pool. There used to be a team of buddies locally to help people who wanted to swim or use the gym and I did consider that might be the kind of thing that I would like to do as a volunteer, when I retired. Never imagined that by the time I retired I would be in need of help myself.

In the early days of PMR I solved that by getting into my swimsuit when I got out of bed - the aquafit classes were usually in the morning - and wearing joggers and a t-shirt to get to the pool. Afterwards I just sat and drip-dried before putting the joggers and t-shirt on to get home. There are now lovely easy to get on coverups so you can go home looking half-decent!

Unfortunately here every second week I go on to the seniors club in the village so have to get dressed at the pool - very poor timing!! But there if coffee and cake as a reward ...
