Could sudden foot pain be a sign that I’m tapering too quickly? I was finally diagnosed with PMR last July having suffered with pain and stiffness since Christmas 2022. I have tapered to 12 mg of preds by decreasing .5 of a mg every two weeks which seemed to be working fine. I have had a very busy couple of weeks and on Saturday I developed pain in the edge and ankle of my right foot nowhere else. I saw a chiropractor who couldn’t find any swelling, bruising or any reason for the pain and thought it may be tendonitis and suggested ice packs. I tried that, Paracetamol and I used Voltarol a couple of days too but the pain persists and I can’t walk properly, I limp. I will continue with the ice packs but would a little burst of extra preds help.

Not necessarily so I'd speak to a doctor before trying it. I'd doubt that SUDDEN foot pain was due to tapering pred too fast - it sounds more like an injury. Steroids can underline tendinopathies so not necessarily a good idea to add more. Have you been on antibiotics called quinolones - their names usually end in -floxacin?

Try this, peroneal tendinopathy and see if it rings any bells
