Just wanted to update and thank all the lovely people who advised me. I had my operation last Thursday and as PMRpro and others advised me l took my normal pred at six and then in hospital the anaesthetist went over everything and certainly looked after me reassuring me all the time. All went well and home on Friday. My only problem was that night l had an adrenal issue.l was sick cold and shivery and nearly passed out.l did try ringing 111 but not a lot of help. Luckily l remembered this happening after l had my cataract operation and the advise you wise ladies gave me then and followed sick day rules, taking and extra 5mg of pred. Then things settled down and l went to bed. So once again thanks to this wonderful site l am recovering successfully from my operation.

Good to hear. I wouldn't bother with 111 in such an event, they are too slow to react. Calling 999 and saying this is a likely adrenal crisis developing in a longterm steroid patient after a stressful procedure should get a response, paramedics deal with them regularly.
brilliant that’s great news best wishes for a speedy recovery 🌼
