And how would you know when you no longer need that doctor?
As of today, I am feeling great, have no PMR and am on zero prednisone, but I do take some Methotrexate and Hydroxychloroquine. I plan to keep steadily reducing. The doctor said I can keep taking it, or cut steadily back, or even cold turkey those drugs and see what happens.
Seeing doctor every 3 months now, would the visit time go to 6 months, or once a year?

I see you are in US so it will no doubt be different but here in UK most PMR is handled by GPs and only referred to Rheumys when there is a problem reducing pred (as I was) or when it's GCA.
In my case I think the referral when it came through coincided with PMR going into remission so I reduced the pred dose quite quickly and I think the Rheumy took lots of credit and discharged me to continue reducing!
My PMR was described as atypical. I now have GCA so am under the Rheumy again.
