Having reduced slowly to 3.25, I had the horrid flu virus with a possible GCA flare with headache similar to the pre diagnosis ones, unbelievable fatigue and very low mood. Raised by 1mg and symptoms settled. Saw GP today to try and ascertain whether it was a flare and he thought no, but just tapering when every ache and pain will return! Said he couldn't send me for an inflamation blood test because I had raised my dose. Advised me to contact rheumy and cancel next week's synth test as it would be meaningless as I had I raised dose. So rang rheumy secretary who directed me to day unit for decision. They redirected me to secretary as it was rheumy decision. Secretary emailed rheumy who was on study leave...he replied to say go ahead with the test as it didn't matter if I was still on 4mg......so, let's see what happens next...

Really not sure 1mg would make that much difference but I'm also not sure the markers would be raised anyway. The headache is difficult but I'd be more inclined to suspect adrenal insufficiency to be honest. Being ill with the virus would really test your adrenal function.
