Has prevnar13( pneumonia vaccine ) caused a trigger for people with existing inflammatory conditions?

I’m an autoimmune vasucliits patient . My inflammation in the eye was relatively managed well with immunosuppressants. But since having the Prevnar 13 , my inflammation is back in full swing . Has anyone experienced this ?

If so, how have you resolved it ? Please advise .

Any vaccine can trigger a flare because they are made to make the immune system go on high alert. However, infections can also do this. It’s also unpredictable as to who will be triggered by either one of them.

Thanks ! And generally how long does the vaccine induced flare last ?

A flare is an individual thing so nobody can tell you how long that will be. If it is a normal common response to a vaccine as in aches and pains, fatigue and possibly a fever, that should be a few days to a week if you’re unlucky. Therefore, I wouldn’t be assume it’s a flare if one were to come down with those symptoms within the first few days.

How long has it been in full swing and did you increase steroids? Have you looked at the section for dealing with a flare in the FAQ’s here?

Further to  SnazzyD ’s comments see that PMRpro did give you the link to tapering plans used on this forum in reply to a previous post on an another forum. Did you access it?

I got the flare immediately from the following day of the vaccine . It is 2 weeks now . Not convinced that it is getting better . Will check the FAQ. Many thanks

Sounds like you had the normal inflammatory response at first but it has carried on after a point where it should wane, so I’d now call it a flare.
