follow up to my travel insurance query

I want to thank everyone who replied to my enquiry re travel insurance. I contacted all the suggested companies and was amazed at the different quotes for exactly the same thing i.e age 74, pre existing condition PMR, travelling to Canada. When asked, I advised that I wanted to exclude PMR from the cover (I can see no reasonwhy PMR should hospitalise me and I will have all my meds with me). Prices ranged from £105 (Staysure) to well over £700 with most in the £300 —£400 bracket.

Thanks again and guess who I have insured with😃😃

Check small print of Staysure - think it says it won’t use private hospitals - sorry if this is a repeat answer

Don't stress about private hospitals in Canada. They are almost non-existant anyhow and the government ones are fine.

Basic private health care (i.e. the sort of thing which would land you in the ER, and normal life events like pregnancy, childbirth, certain vaccinations, but not "extras" like dental or eye care) is not allowed in Canada. We can get non-public insurance to provide coverage for the many conditions not covered by government health care, (including pharmacare and such "perks" as a private room in hospital).
