Just get you up to speed. I found that 15mg of pred was relieving pain I had been experiencing for a year. I did not believe it was PMR because it presented differently then the last time. The pain is not bilateral. But my inflamation marks have been high for a long time. The relief has been so amazing, so my rheumatologist and I spoke about this because she is concerned of me being on this dose for long since I developed severe osteoporosis during my last bout of PMR. We both agreed that I would taper very slowly treating this as if it is PMR. I told her I did not want to go any faster than half a milligram a month. And then if I had a flare I was going to go back up. I am also starting MTX to help. She is working with me on this and I can't tell you how relieved I am to not have as much pain as I have been in the last year. I still have sciatica and back pain but this is like 80% better than what it was.
