Our current travel insurer was advised of my PMR and it was covered with no extra premium charge or exclusion. I also asked my GP for an extra supply of pred in case of any flare and was given this with no problem.

I always used to travel with extra Pred. I never needed though, thankfully.

Always take extra doses of all my medicines and if you are flying, take them on the plane with you, not in your luggage in case it goes astray.

PMR didn’t affect my holiday insurance and yes, take extra pred just in case. It’s easy to overdo things so keep that in mind especially if you are in a group; it’s ok to rest while the others go off on a hike 🙂.

And if you can't manage something at home - don't be optimistic and imagine you will suddeenly be able to do it on holiday!

When I declared PMR my insurers added about £17 to my premium. However it is best to declare it in case you have any problems whilst abroad.

Saga added about £1.50 for PMR to my travel insurance a few years ago

It needs to be on your insurance and I have always taken extra on holiday

Nationwide Flex Plus cover charged me £30 for PMR for an annual cover 😔. If anything happens and I didn’t declare it, they may void any claims made.

the pmr didn’t put my premium up by much but when I declared the osteoporosis it really jumped up in price.

I have just come back from holiday, I was insured by Staysure who did not charge me any extra. I took extra Prednisolone with me, no problem getting prescription and upped my Pred by just 2mg while I was away. I was concerned as I am yo yoing at the moment since I got below 10 mg, that is still a problem.

I suggest you stay at the lowest dose where you are OK for a few months, taking a holiday from tapering. Then try 1/2mg at a time and VERY slowly. When you are ready it will work - you can't force it and yoyoing causes problems in the longer term,

Thank you PMRpro, I am not getting much advice from my GP, he asks me how I am and then tells me to reduce my dose. As everyone says, they don’t listen . I rely on the info on this forum.
