The proof is in the pudding

I decided to omit processed sugar and some grains from my diet. Not eating cakes, biscuits chocolate, bread for about a month my pain level dropped significantly.

A few days away some sugar and carbs crept in and yes you’ve got it, PAIN returned.

Me too - I've cut it to the bone! ONE square of 85% dark chocolate a day and that's it! Otherwise not even fruit.

I wish I could stay away from those things for a month! A day for me would be terrific! I know you’re absolutely right.

Don’t smoke or drink but sugar … 🫶🤣

Well done! Did you lose weight too?

I was fusgnosed with arthritis at first n Feb this year and advised to lose some weight. Began the Michael Mosley Fast 800 eating approach. A month later PMR was diagnosed. By then I was enjoying no sugar no carbs eating.

I have lost 2 and a half stone......back to size 12/14. Eating a few carbs now and feeling fine. It is a good eating plan. I still had tea coffee and the odd red wine so didn't follow it completely!! But fasted from 7 p.m. Until around 1pm lunchtime. Found that surprisingly easy! Am currently on 10 mg of Pred and pain free.🤞

I'm the original only puddings man. Now I can't stand the sugar at any level. Has helped me enormously. No biscuits, chocs, crisps, sweet things. I do most of the cooking and soups, main course, the occasional glass of wine and the occasional pudding from our own fruit like blackcurrants, gooseberries, plums, rhubarb, apples. Our own meat from sheep, cattle, and wild venison. Some pheasant, partridge and rabbit. Stocks and vegetables also homegrown. All from farm. I still look like Mr. blobby with this cushings syndrome and can't seem to shift it no matter how hard i try. Hope it goes away with reduction of pred.

Re the sugar thing, I can highly recommend a movie called That Sugar Film. Might make you swear it off for good.

I am wondering what pain has reduced. Not PMR pain I think. For that the answer is steroids. But of course a sugar free diet is the healthy way to go. I went for it about 40 years ago...always eaten a really healthy diet still got PMR. But at least that is all I have got(so far), so maybe it is helped my overall health. My immune system still went haywire...but that is complicated with many factors playing a part.

It sounds like you are feeling healthier, which has got to be good news.

How did you decide which grains to eliminate?

I cut all processed sugars which was tough I loved dark chocolate and I was a Coca-Cola nut I needed one a day or I felt off lol things improved I lost 30 pounds! I was like I got this then I woke one morning to some all to familiar pmr pain “ok a little setback” two weeks later I had full blown pmr pain we added methotrexate upped prednisone yet pmr dominates… I have seen The sugar film to be honest I was shocked!! Overall cutting sugar is healthier but sadly it wasn’t the silver bullet for me…
