Maybe getting better?

Up a plum tree yesterday, leant over too far, tipped the ladders, swung myself off a branch (10ft off the ground) like Olga Korbut minus the elegance. Shoulders seem OK at week 4.Memo to self, ? Time to reappraise attitude to risk!

🤭🤞😱

Hmmm - I have rather strong views on ladies and gents of a certain age going up ladders, A 3m fall is bad for a young person - it is even more likely to be life-changing for us.

That's what I said when I found Mum, then 96 doing same. Did it stop her...........no! Now I understand, but point well taken.

Jam or sauce? Just take care, we are not as young and athletic as we used to be.😁

All cut up, cooked and in process of being frozen. Took an age!

Well done, I still have plums in my freezer from last summer, ready to make jam and sauce as needed. It's really handy, my family love plum sauce and the grandchildren love plum jam. I also make guava jelly, fejoa jam and marmalade. Blackberry jelly when I can get blackberries, they're a bit harder to come by these days.

I also have some kamikaze barn owl chicks, bound to fall out of the b...nest again some time this week. A girl sometimes needs a ladder!

A girl sometimes needs a ladder , a lady sometimes needs a girl to go up the ladder for her. When I was a girl I used to trade harvesting and gardening skills for a bag of the loot . I bet there must be someone near you whom would swap a bit of labour for a big bag of plums.

Or Maybe , himself could do the tree assaults after all of the mast climbing training!😄😄😄

Take care , Bee

Too much ironmongery in his knees and back unfortunately.

If you keep doing that sort of thing, you'll be ggetting some ironmongery in your bones, If you are lucky ...

Hahaha 😂 This conversation (serious though the content is) really made me chuckle.

Thankyou. 😄

I must admit I would do the same for 10kg of Victoria plums even 1kg.

For my last whimsical remark to illustrate a serious point; as part of my new attitude to risk assessment upon my diagnosis of PMR I have told himself that I will never again be hauled up the mast to free off anything that is flapping about up there.......result!!!!!Goodnight all.

Is it a "Silly Dog" or perhaps "Silly Mum" - or both?! Enjoy those plums - my absolute favourite!

Really glad that you are OK. Do I hear a sneaking pride in your recklessness?

Sillydogsmum profile image
Sillydogsmum in reply to SheffieldJane

In a way yes, but in the sense that how does one adapt to the new normal with PMR, without 'doing my head in'. In any event I should have repositioned my ladder not leant out at an angle. What do I do nowadays when someone rings asking for a hand with some physical task that I would have thought nothing of doing before etcetera; especially if I think I have already done as much as I consider prudent on that day. As if there arent enough dilemmas in the mad world we are now living in.🤔

Please be more careful

Politely [or not as the case may be ] say No, sorry can’t do that any more….

Not there in my head yet; besides dont look restricted and I'm certainly not about to tell folks about the PMR at the moment. Imaginative excuses will be the way to go!

Many never do look restricted - but you do need to accept you have it.

It’s an illness, not a guilty secret.. and you being open about it may help others..

It took me just over a year to say No..We were never allowed as a child to say no so when pmr hit it took a long time to say No.

It will come.

Maybe employ a tree surgeon?

I am pleased that you survived and not too worse for the experience, by the sounds of it.

I still shin up ladders (well, if you could describe it as shinning), but I don't go more than 3 or 4 feet off the ground without a ladder holderer to make sure that the ladder doesn't move.

I bought my self a nice little set of steps to get stuff from top shelves, instead of using a chair, after a few wobbles and kamikaze landings.

Very impressed - don't suppose there's a video??? Glad you're OK but do try not to do it again.

You're lucky, my plum tree is rubbish this year having one of it's 'off years!'

Sillydogsmum profile image
Sillydogsmum in reply to Pusph

That happened to me two years ago. Pruned big tall branches first year to reduce the height and cut back all new growth by 2/3 last year and i am back in production.

Sounds like a jolly jape! Now that you’ve lived to tell the tale! Judging risk is so hard!

Further warning - maybe no more than 2 plums per day until the system can accommodate without backlash
