can I colour my hair when on steroids

has anyone had trouble with hair colouring when taking steroids

Most don’t have any issues…..but do make sure you have test prior to it being done… there was a recent post when it all went wrong. ..but we put that down to hairdresser rather than Pred.

Some people find the texture of their hair changes and doesn't "take" the colour in the same way. But seems to be a bit individual. I wouldn't colour my hair if it had become very dry or frizzy - more chemicals wouldn't do it a lot of good I feel.

I get my colour done regularly. 7 years on pred.

I carried on colouring, although the quality of my hair was pretty rubbish.

Have my hair dyed every 6 weeks and no problems,I do see a change in its condition if I am not feeling well

my hair became quite resistant to colour so I gradually stopped. My hair is almost completely white now and I love it! It’s also in much better condition.

6 months on pred, thought admittedly not a particularly high dose, as I have been below 10mg after the first 3 weeks. I colour my own hair every 4 weeks. So far, I have not noticed any difference in my hair.

I never had trouble with coloring on pred but once, way before PMR, my hair came out red. My colorist checked and rechecked his formulation and saw no problem. I had been gravely ill the months before, near death actually. I received so many medications and parenteral( intravenous thick nourishment) . All this deposits in the hair shafts and interacts with coloring. NOT my colorist’s fault.
