Has anyone in the uk had the current Covid spring booster? If so were you ok? I have mixed feelings about it and only have until the 30th June to have it done. Im in a good place at the moment with the steroid tapering and don’t want to rock the boat 😳

Had mine at beginning of May with minimal side effects, just felt a bit rough for a few hours the next day. I was on 1 and 2 mg alternate days of pred. Not as uncomfortable as covid was a couple of months previously
I was supposed to have lunch with a friend of mine today and she had her booster dose yesterday, from Pfizer. She has had a really bad reaction and was even sick today. After my Pfizer I was ill for two weeks. I see that in Germany there is a law suit against the people who developed the Pfizer vaccine. reuters.com/business/health...
I had another Pfizer with absolutely no side effects. They were also using another vaccine, which I had never heard of, but that was only for people over 75.
Hard to say as we're all different. I had strong but temporary reaction to Moderna but Pfizer was a non-event, especially the Spring Dose (my 4th Pfizer). Adverse vaccine reactions are vanishingly rare. Although the current vaccines are shortlived against the latest variants they are certainly better than nothing.
I think the reason for the June deadline is because they want the public to be eligible for updated vaccines in the fall.
I had mine last Thursday (Pfizer) no problems apart from sore arm, glad I had it quite a few friends and family have had Covid recently. I was also told that I would be offered another in Autumn
Hot red itchy patch for seven days, but no other reaction (7th one)
I had mine about a month ago, and was fine. Some soreness at the injection site but less bruising and discomfort than I generally get following a routine blood test
I had mine at end of April with no reaction at all apart from a bit of tenderness where needle went in. It was the new one, can’t remember the name but began with V.
I had mine at the end of April, felt generally unwell the next day and then had 36 hours of vomiting and diarrhoea. I’d had no significant reaction to any of the previous jabs. I don’t suffer from upset stomachs so it was quite unusual, husband and I had eaten the same food and for once I couldn’t blame it on the grandchildrens childhood ailments. I mentioned it to the practice nurse and she didn’t seem surprised.
Will I go for the next booster if it’s offered? Probably but with all fingers crossed.
I also was in two minds whether to have the spring booster and even cancelled it at one point. When I realised I would only have until the end of June I thought long and hard and eventually decided that I would have it mainly because if I didn’t it would mean that it would be nearly 12 months since my last jab and we are going on a long haul flight in a couple of months.
I was given Pfizer and had no side effects whatsoever. It can be a hard decision to make and everyone can act differently but I do understand your predicament. Good luck with whatever you decide to do 🤞
I had mine, Pfizer, two days ago. Nothing but a bruised arm which resulted in a bad night, but fine now. Previously I had Moderna, with no reaction whatsoever, not even a sore arm.
I agree it’s difficult to know whether to keep having boosters. I had my 7th vaccine last Wednesday (Pfizer). My doctor advised me not to keep having boosters but I kept getting texts and a letter from the NHS saying I needed to book one as I’m vulnerable. I’ve got a few flights coming up in the next three months so decided to have it. I had a sore arm and a bit of a headache for a couple of days🌸
I am 80 in London and was refused the Pfizer booster two weeks ago. Reason that I was on too high steroids and because a consultant at UCHL had suggested that the previous 5 Pfizer vaccines may have triggered my PMR. I was also told that Sanofi was not given to people on steroids. It was a trial on elders and it had now finished with few or no fatalities hopefully. Perhaps they thought we were expendable retirees? More boosters are being considered for October.
So glad to read that most people had mild or no vaccine problems. Other topics covered have been interesting too.
🙄This heat and humidity is very challenging in London though, so staying in most of the time.
mum had the new one for over 75s and sadly she had a flare up. She had previously had Pfizer and Moderna with no issues. At 83 though the booster is probably worth a flare which was managed with increased pred.
I had my fifth two or three weeks ago and it was the first time that I HADN'T reacted. I did mention to the chap that the last time he'd done it I'd had a massive bruise. He was so gentle this time! Pfizer (for the second time). I've also had 2 Astro Zeneca and 1 Moderna. The Pfizer's are the only covid vaccination I've had since being diagnosed with PMR.
Hi I had mine this week and was fine apart from sore arm. Did dither about having it for a while but decided I’d rather not risk covid again as I’ve relatives with long covid and it’s not good.
I had my 7th jab in may, sore arm for a couple of days but no real problems. I've also had COVID twice, 2020 and again in 2022. I know which I'd prefer. Have the jab and keep well
I decided not to, after feeling so rough for a few days after the last shot I had in Oct 22, I thought, that's it, no more. I felt as bad as when I had covid in 2020. Though being fair, I had the flu and covid jab at the same time, so it could have been either. Then I got flu anyway in the new year and had a massive great PMR flare, which makes me wonder if the flares over the years were due to viral infections and therefore also unsure whether I am making the right decision in not having the spring covid booster. On the other hand, I feel unsure about the effects of all these vaccinations when you have a messed up immune system already. Anyway, the upshot of that is that I have very mixed feelings about the jabs now. I wouldn't want to sway someone either way, but I totally get any uncertainty that you might be feeling about the right course of action.
