Achy legs

My PMR feels OK in the morning unless I overdo my physical activity the day before. Then I feel terrible for most of the next day. Is this normal or is this more than PMR going on like RA?

If you overdo things physically when you have PMR then you are predisposed to developing more severe DOMS (delayed onset muscle soreness) than you would be normally. That means you get little warning and even what previously would have been only a moderate level of exercise is enough to cause an exaggerated response that then often takes far longer to resolve than you would expect. It is why we bang on about NOT doing too much, knowing your limits and not exceeding them.

PMR is predominantly a soft tissue disorder so muscles rather than joints as in RA.

Sounds like you hit on the head. Thank you.

Is there a way of distinguishing over-doing things & getting DOMS from a build up of inflammation due to being on too low a dose?

The build up of inflammation will appear anyway and steadily get worse - DOMS is in response to activity/exercise and will eventually improve.

Sounds very normal. If you REALLY overdo it, it can last for several days😧

Sounds perfectly normal to me. I've experienced DOMS on many occasions over the last 8 years from overdoing it. I'm a slow learner 😅

It can be the day after, or even two days after and can take one of more days to resolve.

We're all coming from different places and mine's mooching around with a rollator, so what's overdoing it may be very different but here's a little story I suspect a lot of people can relate to, scaled up or down. Tuesday did something amazing by my standards, turned out some stuff and assembled a load of junk ready for collection, after which wiped out, Forced myself to put together a minimal meal then slept like a log. Wednesday suspiciously fine! This morning went to GP for routine bloods, not an arduous experience by anyone's standards except PMR's. Booked cabs on line, Get in and out make nice noises of gratitude to cabbies, needle stuck in arm. Arrive home. Bushed, knackered, flopped, exhausted, and even done in. Could not do anything for an hour and a half, and then only total minimum because a family member coming round shortly, not someone I have to tidy up for! Legs not painful on walking just a bit DOMS-y.

Sums it up neatly. Gets us all one way or another, so.etimes from seemingly innocent 'activity'.
