wobbly and weak legs?

I was first diagnosed with PMR in 2013, so it’s been a long, but not bad journey. I did reduce my Prednisolone to 3mg but it’s currently at 5mg. In the last week or so my legs have become really weak/wobbly and I feel that some of my PMR symptoms have returned. We have moved house recently and it’s been fairly stressful, with a few things going wrong with removals, like them not turning up on the day, furniture not arriving etc. I’ve done more physically but I thought these symptoms were just overdoing it. However, they are definitely getting worse. Any advice please?

Sorry to hear, but moving can be very stressful even if things go according to plan ….think you probably need to address as a flare - see link…healthunlocked.com/pmrgcauk...

Whether you take your starting point from 3mg or 5mg (so increase to 8mg or 10mg) is up to you….but I would try and get back down to 4mg once flare under control, not 3mg.

Thanks DorsetLady - very helpful. I’ve also managed to get an appointment to see my GP face to face this afternoon (miracle in itself) so will see what they say. I feel it’s a flare following too much physical and mental stress ……

All enough to cause a flare - especially since you are in adrenal insufficiency territory and that too could be causing the symptoms.

Moving house is one of the top three stressful events in life. And you had a messy one - did you have the new occupants sitting waiting to empty their van while your stuff was in situ! I nearly did - we were swapping houses about a mile apart and mine was rather larger than hers to empty!

PMRPRO thank you. It’s all been a bit of an event. The packers came a day early, then ‘forgot’ to deliver our things from storage so we were sitting on the driveway of the new bungalow on camping chairs for hours looking like demented gnomes! 😂 Your experience sounds awful too. New furniture has been delayed then arrived damaged. New set gas not arriving till late September. The list goes on. Hubby has been great but we are just awaiting a prostate cancer diagnosis for him (hope not but it’s highly likely). A bit of a roller coaster.

And they will have the cheek to send you a bill no doubt!!!!! I don't think I would ever depend on new furniture arriving - all such a pain these days. If I leave here I am unlikely to take much with me - not economical since Brexit, a removal van that cost £4K before is more like £10K now.

Think hard about the procedure if it IS prostate cancer - the obvious is not necessarily the best.

Interesting comment - I may get back to you when we know what’s happening 👍

The thing is, once you have triggered a flare it does keep getting worse until you damp the inflammation down with enough Pred. Of course you are at the tricky Adrenal stage too which your doctors need to take into account. I do think you have diagnosed yourself correctly, with all the physical and mental stress of moving house. I wonder if treating it like sick day rules would avoid you increasing to a permanently higher dose? That is, 5 mgs extra for a week to 10 days then straight back to 5 mgs. It has worked for me during illness, why not extreme stress? Run it past your doctor, if they are receptive and on the right page.

Yours might be sick day rules, indeed, but I have had weak and wobbly legs off and on the past few months—no other symptoms (other than usual pmr soreness). I’m at 6 mg. for the 3rd time around, just had bloodwork last week, results best ever, go figure. But if I were moving—aye yi yi! The stress would skyrocket!

Hi Twopies, yes it has been a difficult time and I have been stressed. It will be interesting to see what my GP says. I wish you well with your tapering.
