I was diagnosed with PMR in June 2018, and currently on 13.5mg of prednisone. I've noticed that the hair on my legs has stopped growing...I used to shave my legs every day. Is this part of the condition or a side effect from PMR? Thanks.

Loss of hair on legs
I think it is a side effect of pred mine stopped growing under my arms, not complaining.
Lol your lucky ,I’m a women an hope I get lucky with my moustache 😂😂
Lucky you.. the hair on my head fell out. Was so thin I thought of getting a wig and then is started coming back.
The hair on my legs has also stopped growing, & hair on my head is growing much more slowly as well as thinning.
Funny you should mention this.... I get my legs waxed, and the other day I mentioned to the girl that waxes me that there didn't seem to be as much there to wax! She agreed!! We were both rather surprised and me THRILLED! 🙃
Hope you got a discount!
Hey! Good point! I did not! 🤔
Watch out for thin skin problems with waxing.
Pred. I’ve got less hair on legs, thinner hair on top after it fell out once, grew back lovely then went thin and frizzy. Facial hair - ‘beard’ and moustache but nicer eyebrows and lashes. However, now I’m on 4mg all that’s reversed except silly hair.
Sadly I have not been so blessed. It just grows like weeds from face to toes. Lots of love from the gruffalo. X
Me too. I wish it would pluck my eyebrows and wax my upper lip too. 😉
Legs and under arms yes, depleted. But this tends to happen with age anyway for females and I had noticed a reduction pre Pred.
Unfortunately no one told Pred to stop growing hair down the side of my face (fortunately it’s fair and I’m fair)
Or the hair on my arms that’s suddenly appeared, sort of middling fair in colour
Or the moustache (not bloody fair in any sense of the word)
Or the thick black chin hairs that appear spontaneously..
But hey, my eyelashes are lovely and long. 😉
Have a thyroid test.....
There's a nice side effect for a change! I still shave my blonde fuzz off everyday. Won't miss that one bit.
Yes apparently pred has an effect on body hair, the trouble is it all goes to your face! I find it really great when I go swimming now as I don’t need to worry if I have forgotten to shave under my arms. A plus point for pred.
It is most likely to be due to pred. Underarms and stomach for me - legs still have hairs which isn't fair! I have a few white hard chin hairs and during Medrol a black beard - so the epilator got extra use. worked a treat.
But I live in Italy where no-one cares...
Interesting, I don't get much hair on legs, underarm or face now but I'd put it down to post menopause,
Hmmmmmm?
Well, there is a silver lining!!
My legs and underarms no longer sprout! I see this as a positive side effect of Pred. However have got more facial fluff and on higher doses my hair did thin and fall out a bit but its OK now I am reducing, just not the same texture, feels like straw at times
Mine stopped growing on my legs but alas it is also falling out on my head. A Lot. had super thick hair.. (too thick my hair stylist used to say) and now it is baby fine . Starting to show through to scalp..have to cover spots. hope this changes!!!!! BUT at least we are still in the game!
But for it to happen so suddenly? I've always had hairy legs, having to shave everyday...then nothing.
Perhaps the PMR was in your legs? Did you get leg pain? ....given it is vasculitis it could be that circulation was effected and that can cause hairs not to grow etc. But ageing doesn't help!
