No pain in hips - why?

So there I was variously on the floor, in a chair, in a hospital bed and the key thing is my brain is saying cheerfully to my lower half, "You're going to stand up now. Your bottom will rise. You will grasp firmly whatever is near to grasp firmly and haul yourself into a vertical position." And absolutely nothing happened. The lower half had downed tools, might have been made of papier mache.

Papier mache doesn't feel pain. Never any pain with this repulsive and ludicrous experience. At onset excruciating pain everywhere else afflicted. Presumably at that point I was marinated in inflammation so why no pain? Are the nerves involved?

Nerves aren't usually involved in PMR. it is a muscular problem.

All I know from experience is the hips are the first to go, kind of as though they're the weakest link, what signals flare with the other bits getting a bit twitchy, clearly thinking of making life difficult, but nothing like as troublesome. Some OA of the hips but otherwise the only abnormality is so long ago it can surely be discounted - 54 years ago bone was taken from my left hip to pack the spinal fusion.

I have been taking prednisolone about 7 years and now on 4 mg each day I have found by taking the tablets at 10pm the previous day I wake up with more energy the next day.It seems so simple but it works for me.

Kind regards

No its not i disagree its inflamation of the nerves that fire the muscles to work.

Disagree all you like - but the evidence is that it ISN'T a nerve malfunction problem.

I have my own thoroughly unlikely theory - or is it. Who knows, who cares, but here goes. I was 6 hours on the operating table cut open from stem to stern like a halibut on a salver - it's a simpler op today. Beautiful scar all the way down my spine, butterfly stitches, work of art. The one on the hip is bog standard but my bikini days are somewhat over. Only our dear good friend Eff knows exactly what was prodded, poked, turned. Fast forward 50 years and I don't have hip pain period, full stop. The extent of OA on x-ray would qualify me for surgery but they're not interested since I have no pain - come back when it hurts! Which it refuses to do. Which is of course great but could they have done something to the nerves all those years ago?

Its nerve inflamation very similar to Shingles not a nerve malfunction.

So i had similar. My pain in my hips was so strange like feeling my blood running in my thighs Also i have two dogs and at walkie times ifbi went onnmy knees to put harnesses on i could not get back up without finding sonewhere to hold on to. It was like my muscles had bo power. With Pred its gone away thankfully along with the pain and stiffness in my shoulders
