PMR (or Practice Mindfulness Regularly)

The tiny white pills are doing their job (🤞)

and confidence grows by the day,

But don’t be complacent-the rule is be patient

And don’t get carried away (figuratively or literally).

You’re going shopping: picture the scene!

There will be other shoppers (and queues!)

Who don’t have the fatigue which brings one to the knees

Or the brain-fog that makes the mind freeze.

I used to be asked by a shopper-shorter in stature than I-

To please reach for a packet but now I can’t hack it,

My arms just refuse and I have to deduce

Age has made them stiffer than plastic!

At checkout your fingers may fumble

For the bank card you need for the bill,

And the bright young thing smiles sweetly

While tapping her nails on the till.

Be assured that this won’t last for ever

Sure, some may well disagree,

All I can say is I can’t rhyme any more so here is a Winnie the Pooh quote,

“You’re braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think.”

Bless you all and all those who sail in the PMR/GCA ship where there are lots of lifebuoys, life jackets and life boats. You may sink a little but you will eventually swim. 😁..floating is also good.

Winnie the Pooh: philosopher par excellence🥰

Didn't you just love him when he was used as a clothes horse by Rabbit, when he (Pooh) tried to venture into Rabbit's home🤣 (for those who don't know and are interested, Pooh got stuck for a while as he was, how shall we say, a litte too large to get through Rabbit's hole into his home)....oh God, I can't believe I've just written all that🤫

Your poem is a joy to read

It's exactly what we all need

To brighten our day, blow those grey clouds away

And bring back some joy with great speed.

Xxxxx😘😘

Ah! 👏👏 It’s catching I guess and relieves some stress,

Perhaps it is true to say

That a rhyme a day keeps the doctor away

And a heck of a lot cheaper than apples. ❤️

PMR (or Practice Mindfulness Regularly)

The tiny white pills are doing their job

and confidence grows by the day.

Life's not the same, its purpose to rob

that, so please don’t get carried away.

But don’t be complacent-the rule is, be patient

You’re shopping please picture the scene!

Older than many but not very ancient

You jostle your way round serene.

Suffering brain-fog that makes the mind freeze.

Our fatigue, they won’t know how you feel.

Tired and confused not yet on your knees.

Can the shopper by me be for real.

To reach way up high they are shorter than I

I know they can’t know how it feels.

I just cannot hack it to reach for the packet

Of orange and lemon dried peels.

Stiffer than plastic and not so fantastic

My arms just refuse to be raised.

Fumbling fingers are not really drastic

At checkout they will not be praised.

The card you need to pay the bill,

Is hard to retrieve from your purse

Bright young thing taps nails on the till

And smiles sweetly while mumbling a curse.

As I lie in my bed with the fuzz in my head

Thinking …is this going to be a good day ?

Two feet on the floor….can I get to the door

With legs that are made out of clay ?

Next verse anybody ?

123-go profile image
123-go in reply to Bridge31

The spirit is willing-the flesh is weak,

Should I give my dose a bit of a tweek?

Decisions, decisions-too tired to decide

Should I stay in my bed till the symptoms subside?

Boom then bust, after six days good

Walking every day because I could

Bust - restless night, no energy today

Relaxation calls to ease those legs of clay

What a corker, what a rhyme!

Cheering us all, while doing our time

How long must we serve? That's up in the air

But here, there's always someone to care.

Thank you so much. Your lovely poem rings so many bells and helps me feel I am not alone in this battle. I start April with hope in my heart as I take the little white pills. All the best to everyone on the journey

Thank YOU, Digyellow. Welcome to the forum. I’m pleased you appreciate the wry humour intended not to undermine PMR but to lift a little by the sharing of some symptoms and situations common in PMR (and especially for pre-and newly diagnosed and for those in flare situations). Reading it back reminds me of how far I, personally, have come. You are certainly not alone and I wish you a smooth journey to remission. 🙂
