Surely you wouldn't increase during the "symptomatic phase" if it would be harmful to you, although I think perhaps you're asking whether you need a bit of a top up because you are so close to the point of not having enough cortisol to deal with the stress of being ill? Have a look at the covid post in FAQ. I'll have a quick skim too. There may be something there.

Edit: Sorry didn't see anything.

Certainly you should take your regular dose and maybe, until you can get better advice, monitor yourself for any symptoms that can't be explained by the covid itself. As you are over 5 mg you should be okay from the point of view of avoiding an adrenal crisis. I know the sick day rules suggest doubling your dose if at your level but also that you should consult your doctor before increasing the dose. I don't know when the sick day rules were developed but I think covid has changed a lot of rules we used to live by.

Hope you recover quickly and completely.

thank you HeronNS - makes me feel better. I wonder at what mg dose immunity is not affected.

Morning Slosh. I did follow sick day rules back in October when I had Covid, but only partly as I didn't feel horribly ill. I took an extra 10mg in the morning but not the extra 10mg in the evening which took me to 14mg/day. I followed that for four days, then dropped to 10mg for three days then back to my original 4mg which seemed to work well for me (doc was also happy). Quite what part of the illness I was at, at that time I'm not sure I would guess I'd probably had Covid for a number of days before I got a positive test.

re HeronNS response

As you can see by attached - as a result of covid- and section 06 relates specifically to that- but is does say check with doctor before following -

"The Front Line COVID-19 Critical Care Alliance is a group of physicians and former journalists formed in April 2020 that has advocated for various unapproved, dubious, and ineffective treatments for COVID-19. The group is led by Paul E. Marik and Pierre Kory."

I'm really not sure I would follow their recommendations - especially given their view of invermectin.

So on that basis - I would follow the Sick Day Rules.

Do check the sources of things you find on the internet - to the uninitiated it probably sounds fine.

I’m from Africa - where Ivermectin is used very frequently. Covid rates in Africa were generally low. Zimbabwe very quickly initiated the treatment policy. As did provinces in India and as soon as they did their rates of severe infection and death dropped remarkably.

Many many researchers have looked into Ivermectin for Covid treatment.

If you look up their I.care treatment doc you will see all the references.

Also know many older people that were not vaccinated that used it to great effect. Having said that, everyone is different and I also know older people that were vaccinated (2 doses) and sailed through as well.

Funny how the bulk of the medical community don't approve of it for Covid.
